Home of the Buffalo Soldiers

If you look on a map for San Angelo you will probably have to look a couple of times because it is not easy to find. Their claim to fame is the fort used as an outpost for the buffalo soldiers in the 1860s and 1870s. Besides that there is not a lot going on out here and not for several miles around.
That being said I actually think the city is quite nice. The town is a good size, around 100,000 people. It is humid but not anymore than most U.S. cities, it is certainly not Houston or Alabama humid. There is a really great river walk and probably the best park I have ever seen (better that the huge one at Wright Patt). We found a house we are going to move into in a couple of weeks, there were very few to choose from.

The house is about 2 miles from Lake Nasworthy, which we have already been to about a half dozen times. It is such a fun little lake. The best part is that the AF rents boats on the lake and they are so inexpensive. They are brand new '07 Bayliners for $10/hr + gas. I am going to sound like Dad here but it almost senseless to buy a boat especially when they are that cheap. We went out last Saturday for almost 3 hrs and it cost us $35 total. If we did that 8 times during the month, which we might since it is so close, it would only be $280. We don't have to pay for maintenance, the boat slip or winterizing or anything. Tally absolutely loved tubbin, he went so much on Saturday that Sun morn he thought his arm was going to fall off it hurt so bad.

Also, thanks to everyone who called Truman on his birthday. It was a very unusual birthday as we were in the hotel. The hotel we were was quite nice and it had a large breakfast area. We went out the night before and decorated it all up so when he came out to breakfast everybody could see it was his birthday. We went to Chili's that night for dinner and he got to have his own kids meal instead of sharing with the other kids. That night we went to see Ratatouille and everybody enjoyed that again.

I am so jealous of the boat and all the summer boating fun!! The pictures are so great - especially that cute smiling one of Truman w/ his 2 brothers and the last one w/ the great batman poster Rose made for him. Fun and memorable BD for that cute little five year old boy that loves Lego Star Wars Video Game (we were all just laughing last night 'cause SJ can exactly imitate Truman saying that - so cute. Thanks for updating us. weloveyouthemost

Who else can make a "move" seem like a vacation through pictures and their blog?!!!?
What a great lookin' family...Texas is fortunate to have Rose, Tyler, Chloe, Tally, Truman, and Tennison grace the Longhorn state's soil with their good looks, talents and great personalities.
As they say "go big or don't go at all"...take that boat out every minute you can....but just know...The boat may be cheap now, but wait until you have moved away from the glorious boat and fantasatic rental fee and have to buy a boat because of the family's addiction to the water fun!!
"Holy Cow Batman!" - Truman looks genuinely surprised about his party and his turning five years old. What a cute boy that (as Dyan's blog shared) loves Lego Star Wars Yideo game.
love and later...
