Popcorn poppin on the Cherry Trees

When we first got here to Japan, we were just coming out of the winter. It was cold and lifeless looking. Then all of a sudden the cherry blossoms started coming out and it looked amazing. When went down the road to the town of Hirosaki where they have a castle in the middle of a cherry orchard. The pictures don't even come close.

In the background is the castle. I can only imagine waking up to this the first real day of spring, looking out and seeing all of this.

This is the view from the castle window! Amazing!

Fish and Buddhas

The first couple of days in Japan we drove around Misawa and a near by town of Hachinohe. It was cold and rainy but really interesting. Chloe was away at a youth trip to a huge indoor water
park.

Everyone rubbed Buddha for good luck.

Tenny was intrigued with just about everything at the fish market and all of the women working there were mesmerized by his curly hair and chubby cheeks

We all enjoyed the fish!

I was afraid the closest temple to Misawa was going to be in Tokyo but fortunately we found one just down the road.

Easter in Utah

We spent about 20 days in Utah (among other various locations). The last day was Easter and was a great way to finish is off. The Roberts came down and Hansens were there, but unfortunately I only took pictures of Tenny, Nelah, and Chewie. Here they are.

The True North strong and free!

Ok I need to update the blog we don't have our computer because it is in storage because we don't have a house because there are no houses in Misawa until the summertime. So here is a half hearted attempt to update the blog with mostly pictures of the last couple of months.

First, a bit of our trip to Canada. Rose and I almost didn't make it up there due to illness and time constraints but luckily we did and it was wonderful.

The ferry ride over to Vancouver Island
We stayed in an old Victorian mansion converted to a B&B, really cool!
We got to see Cheryl, Heather and Hillary
Plus Annaluise, John and their family
The next day was Butchart Gardens, the weather was actually nice for the 2 hours we were there in the park. Amazing!
Trees!
Can you guess which one is the real totem?
Amazing miniature village in the lobby of the Empress
More minis

Hanging with the kids

Here is Mike, Rose and kids.

I got stuck for an extra 5 hours so I hiked around Stanley Park for the morning. It was kind of nice.
